Crawlspace Services

All-American Construction & Woodworkers, Inc. provides a variety of crawlspace services to improve the health of your home.

The crawlspace is not an area where many homeowners dare to venture as it is often dark, damp, cold and uninviting.

The excessive moisture in a crawlspace poses a number of threats to the home. Moisture-related problems can reduce the indoor air quality of the living areas above and can also be quietly undermining the integrity of the home and life within it. This moisture can produce a stale, musty odor which in turn causes a condition commonly known as “Sick Home Syndrome”.

Moisture also provides an environment for mold to thrive that can eventually make its way up into the rest of the home. This same moisture can also attract wood-boring insects that destroy the wood sub-structure. The resulting rot encourages the presence of insects, rodents and other pests in the crawlspace. Solving the crawlspace moisture issue is the first priority in a crawlspace finishing project.

During the hot summer months, the difference in air temperature from outside the home to inside the crawlspace causes moisture condensation on pipes, joists and just about every surface in the crawlspace area. This moisture can lead to mold growth and wood rot, which invites those friendly little termites. In the colder winter months, the vented crawlspace permits cold outside air into the home, cooling down the pipes, ductwork, and even your furnace’s heating elements, not to mention turning your floor into an uncomfortably frigid surface to walk on. Both conditions, ultimately, can cause increases in your utility costs as well as increased moisture levels, which can lead to costly structural damage.
